Call of the Canyon Cabins sit at the foot of Mt. Evans at 8,900 feet above sea level in the Arapaho National Forest. West Chicago Creek, which originates in the Mt. Evans wilderness area, runs just 25 feet from the cabins and is filled with pan size rainbow trout. (BUT DON'T YOU DARE CATCH HAL!) our mascot.
Conveniently located 6 miles south of Interstate 70 off Scenic Highway 103 just outside of Idaho Springs, Colorado. Only 50 minutes from Denver, yet worlds apart. Idaho Springs is named after Chief Idaho and the natural mineral hot springs nearby, which were considered sacred to the Indians. This is where the Colorado gold rush began in 1859. Idaho Springs is an historic Victorian-era mountain town where you can still explore working mines and pan for gold and gemstones. A few minutes away you will find Central City, known as "the richest square mile on earth", another gold rush town which now has legalized gambling.
In addition to offering easy access to the world's best downhill skiing at your choice of Loveland, Keystone, Winter Park, Arapaho Basin, Breckenridge & Copper Mtn. (all are just 20 to 50 minutes away), you can cross country ski and snowshoe right outside your door. Call of the Canyon Cabins are the perfect spot for hiking, mountain biking, fishing, birding, wildlife viewing, or just plain relaxing.
